The first installment of the Dopestep series aims to give us some ground to compare the other mixes to. Probably the most out of place cut is the first track, the intro to 'Omaha Stylee' by 311. I used to play this intro over and over again, obsessed with the slow beat and affected horns. 311 first introduced me to the idea of skits within an album, at the beginning or end of a track. This mix gets straight to business after that, the first half a barrage of heavy tracks dominated by Caspa's incredible work. The last half of the mix explores some more liquid tracks while still keeping the very hard tone present in the first 25 minues. In the next Dopestep series we'll see how some of these tracks and others interact with different genres.

This demo wasn't my first recording of a dubstep mix, but was the first very solid mix that came to be pressed to CD and aggressively distributed among friends and fans to promote the Squeeze event I DJ'ed November of 2011. It features huge dubstep tracks that became personal favorites early in my discovery of the genre. The title of the mix is nothing more than a parody, but I still consider it very important because it sets the tone for this entire mix, a tone that is a throwback to the late 90's and early 2000's hip-hop and rap successes. Basically, a tone that is: Fun & Dirty.
